People Passionate about Helping Our Dedicated First Responders
Northwest Safety clean has been proudly serving the firefighting and emergency response community for over 20 years. Initially started as a dry cleaning business, Steve Lakey Sr. moved his business towards cleaning firefighting materials after an inquiry from one of his regular customers, a Portland Fire logistics officer — and he’s never looked back.
Our mission is to provide all necessary services to properly care for, maintain, and customize firefighter gear, all in one location. Maximizing the user’s safety is our goal for every service and product we provide. Knowing our work is so important to the lives of our customers and neighbors gets us excited to work every day.
Supporting the Community
We believe in supporting our customers and community. All products and services are made and completed in the USA. We also proudly contribute to:
- Firefighter Cancer Support Network
- Portland Firefighter Stair Climb for Cystic Fibrosis
- Clackamas Fire Departments Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Family Owned and Operated
Over the past two decades, Steve Sr., his son Steve Jr., his daughter Sammy, and staff have worked hard to become one of the highest verified Independent Service Providers in the country. They are one of only three ISP’s in the nation chosen to be on the Technical Panel for the NFPA Research Foundation for Validation of Cleaning Procedures for Firefighter PPE.
Steve Jr. is the brains behind NWSC’s exclusive Crossed Flags® Tracking System. He learned the ins and outs of the business from his father and manages the Portland plant, while Steve Sr. manages the Kent, WA location. Steve Sr. is a voting member on the NFPA 1971/1851 Primary Technical Committee. Sammy graduated with her degree in merchandising management with an emphasis on textiles and fabrics. She manages the business operations – working directly with end-users, manufacturers, and distributors.
